Position Summary & Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

Responsibilities include screening, issuing, and maintaining proximity cards and entering related information into a database for all soldiers and employees for the Western regions of Kansas.


Process requires the review and authorization of paperwork, entering data, photographing soldier or employee, and printing of the card, in addition to verifying each card application request to ensure the appropriate people have authorized the requestor to possess a proxy card.


Incumbent enters and verifies accuracy of data and updates data in government information systems as changes occur. Generates reports as required, regarding the number of customers serviced and workload of the section; retrieves data for law enforcement personnel. Types and files correspondence and reports, completes forms, receives requests, reviews, and clarifies, processes, accounts and issue access badges to applicants. Input, updates, retrieves and verifies information in the GALAXY information system and all other databases as
necessary. Ensures applications and supporting documents are complete, valid, and comply with applicable regulations and determines eligibility of the applicant. Updates debarment/warrant list, update and remove personnel as required. Write legible, accurate reports on daily activities, incident reports, and access control logs.

Incumbent is also responsible for sending information to the Topeka Access Control Clerk (ACC) for the purpose of purging the system of incomplete, inactive or otherwise invalid applications. This database, which needs to be updated every month, averages around 1400 cards which expire every 36 months.

As needed, the ACO may perform or request research queries on the NCIC National Crime Information Center (NCIC III/NCCIC) workstation terminal(s), or the equivalent, in accordance with (IAW) federal and state laws. The ACO’s will assist in the screening of all military and civilian employees, consultants, and contractor personnel exercising patience, discretion, and diplomacy while determining their status and justification for their access card reques

The Access Control Officer also serves as the first point of contact and is responsible for the issuing and accountability of all same day or temporary access card/badging systems for their respective facilities.

In addition to Access Control administrative duties incumbent will be armed and play an active role in the resource protection duties for the facility which includes responding to disturbances that occur in the facility and when necessary administer first aid as a first responder. Investigate reports of theft or incidents which require immediate corrective response, independently determining appropriate action. Be able to quickly assess critical situations, and assign a level of priority for appropriate security response. Performs daily inspection of building doors to prevent unauthorized access. Writes legible, accurate reports on daily activities, incident reports, and access control
logs.


Personnel must qualify on pistol, and long gun as a condition of employment. Personnel must obtain and maintain a secret security clearance. Resource Protection officers must re-certify annually on the proper security response to prevent damage or destruction to resources, which could affect the general war making capability of the U.S

Qualifications

  • Education : High School Diploma or GED
  • Licensing & Certification : Applicant will be required to attend and complete NCIC/CJIS security awareness certification training.

  • Minimum Qualifications : Good physical condition and be able to pass a KBI background check. Never have been convicted of a felony by a civilian or military court except for minor traffic violations and similar infractions. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence are not eligible for the position. Required to be (21) twenty-one years of age. Able to conduct searches of persons and property within KSARNG jurisdiction in accordance with instructions and Army regulations. Must be able to talk distinctly over a phone or radio. Ability to work assigned shift or unusual work schedule. Must maintain a neat appearance. Must comply with the Federal Gun Control Act.

  • Preferred Qualifications : one (1) year armed security/police experience and computer competency

  • Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements : Must participate in and successfully pass a drug screen as part of the State of Kansas Drug Screening Program as a condition of employment after a conditional offer of employment.Once hired, you must qualify with a 9mm handgun using the Kansas Commission on Peace Officers Standards and Training guidelines
